Erbil emergency hospital warns of rising motorcycle incidents
ERBIL — The Western Emergency Hospital in Erbil issued a warning on Sunday over a surge in motorcycle incidents, describing the situation as a “serious concern.”
In a statement, the hospital reported more than 68 motorcycle incidents in Erbil over the week leading up to Eid Al-Fitr. Most of the incidents were classified as severe, with some resulting in fatalities.
The hospital noted that current figures, along with data from previous months, indicate a continuing upward trend in such accidents.
It called on relevant authorities to implement strict measures, particularly targeting delivery motorcycle drivers.
Earlier this month, two young men died when their motorcycle veered off the road and struck a tree on 60 Meter Road in Erbil, according to a source from the Forensic Medicine Department.
