Child killed, mother and sibling injured in Garmian crash
GARMIAN — A crash in the Rizgari subdistrict of Sulaymaniyah’s Garmian autonomous administration killed a child and injured other members of the family after a pickup truck struck a family near a public library, local authorities said.
Rafiq Qadir, director of Shahid Hajar Emergency Hospital in Kalar—the administration’s central city—told 964media, “In Rizgari, near the public library, a pickup truck ran over a mother and her two children. As a result, one of the children lost his life.”
Qadir added that both children were boys and the deceased was around four years old. “The health condition of the mother and the other child remains unstable, and they have been transferred to a hospital in Sulaymaniyah,” he said, noting that the mother was pregnant.
The Garmian Traffic Directorate confirmed the incident in a statement, saying a pickup truck ran over the family. “The injured were transferred to Shahid Hajar Emergency Hospital in Kalar. Due to the severity of his injuries, one of the children, who was four years old, passed away,” the statement read.
