Iraq: rain to hit north and south Friday before spreading nationwide
BAGHDAD — Stable conditions will persist Thursday before rain arrives gradually in scattered northern and southern areas Friday, Iraq’s General Authority for Meteorology said.
Rainfall Friday will be light and intermittent, intensifying Saturday as cloud cover spreads across the country, with conditions ranging from light to moderate and thunderstorms possible. Rain will continue Sunday in Kurdistan Region before expanding Monday to central regions, accompanied by lightning and thunder. Shifting winds may raise dust and reduce visibility.
Thursday will be clear with some cloud, turning partly cloudy overnight in the south. Temperatures will rise slightly across central, northern and southern regions. Northwesterly winds of 10–20 km/h will shift to southeasterly in western areas during the day. Visibility will range from 8–10 km, dropping to 5–7 km in some areas due to morning haze.
