Iraqi speaker of parliament arrives in ankara for official visit

NEWSROOM — Iraqi Speaker of Parliament Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani arrived in Ankara Sunday evening for an official visit, where he is expected to hold several meetings with Turkish officials to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments, according to a statement from the Media Office of the Iraqi Parliament Speaker.

“It is expected that Speaker Al-Mashhadani will hold several meetings with officials in Turkey to discuss the development of relations between the two countries and address the developments in the region,” the statement said.

Al-Mashhadani, who was elected speaker on Oct. 31, 2024, is making his second foreign trip. On February 2, 2025, he led a parliamentary delegation to Tehran at the invitation of Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf during his first foreign visit to Iran.

Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani, arrived on Sunday evening in the Turkish capital, Ankara, on an official visit.

It is expected that Speaker Al-Mashhadani will hold several meetings with officials in Turkey to discuss the development of relations between the two countries and address the developments in the region.

Speaker Al-Mashhadani will also discuss with officials issues related to developing and strengthening relations between legislative institutions in a way that serves the interests of both countries.
