Iraqi astronomy enthusiasts plan lunar eclipse observation gathering in Baghdad
BAGHDAD, October 12 — The Telescope Iraq page on Facebook, specializing in astronomy news and observation equipment, called on its followers Wednesday evening to submit their suggestions in preparation for a major lunar eclipse observation gathering in Baghdad.
Telescope Iraq, an Iraqi page managed by a group of young astronomy enthusiasts, interacts with thousands of followers and provides updates on celestial events, stars, and planets.
In a post to its page, the group said: “Dear friends, we have a suggestion. In about two weeks, there will be a lunar eclipse, God willing. It will start from 9 p.m. until 12 a.m. Would you like us to organize the largest astronomical gathering to observe the eclipse in Baghdad? Please suggest locations, so we can proceed with the arrangements.”
