Cartons of eggs inspected for compliance—Sulaymaniyah authorities enforce a ban on undocumented egg imports.
Crackdown
Sulaymaniyah authorities ban undocumented eggs, seize unregistered stock
SULAYMANIYAH — Authorities in Sulaymaniyah have banned the sale of undocumented eggs, ordering immediate confiscation of any batch without proof of origin.
“No eggs will be allowed on the market without a clear record of their source,” the Sulaymaniyah governorate said in an official announcement on Sunday. A designated committee will be responsible for seizing and disposing of unregistered eggs.
The decision follows a monthly meeting of the governorate’s livestock and poultry zoning committee, led by the district governor of Sulaymaniyah. Officials noted that local egg production currently meets public demand, making the crackdown on unregulated imports necessary.
“This is an important step to support local production and prevent unnecessary price hikes within the governorate,” the statement read. Authorities reaffirmed that all eggs brought in through unauthorized channels would be confiscated immediately.
To enforce the decision, joint inspection teams have been assigned to monitor markets and seize any undocumented eggs on the spot. “If we find any unregistered eggs, we will confiscate them immediately and take legal action against the sellers,” the district governor’s office said.
