Erbil security forces arrest suspect linked to Baghdad murder of woman and son
ERBIL — Erbil security forces arrested a suspect linked to the Jan. 7, 2025, murder of a woman and her son in Baghdad, the agency announced Monday.
According to security officials, the crime occurred on Jan. 7, 2025, when two suspects in Baghdad killed the victims, burned their bodies, disposed of them in a river, and stole $200,000.
Following coordination with the Kurdistan Regional Government’s Ministry of Interior, Baghdad’s Karkh court issued arrest warrants for the suspects.
One of the suspects fled to Erbil, where security teams tracked his location and detained him under a judicial investigation order.
Regarding the second suspect, security officials stated, “He remains in Baghdad, where he has gone into hiding.”
