Konee Forum resumes cultural activities in Karbala with free workshops
KARBALA — The Konee Forum for Arts in Karbala has resumed its cultural and artistic activities, launching free creative writing workshops in cinema and theater aimed at developing young talent through specialized training led by industry professionals.
“The Konee Forum for Arts was established in Karbala in 2015 and has presented several theatrical, cinematic, and documentary works over the years,” Mohammed Al-Hasnawi, a founding board member, told 964media. “After a period of inactivity, the forum has resumed its activities by offering cultural and artistic seminars once again.”
The forum now hosts weekly cultural evenings every Saturday, attracting young people interested in arts and culture. “We are committed to supporting and developing young talents through workshops,” Al-Hasnawi said. “We invite all those interested in the artistic and cultural fields in Karbala to attend and participate.”
The forum’s first workshop of 2025 focused on creative writing in theater and cinema. Playwright and trainer Mahmoud Ahmed, who led the session, said the training introduced participants to different literary forms, helping them build a strong foundation.
“In the coming days, our main focus will be on theatrical scripts, and we will move on to the practical aspects of training,” Ahmed said. “We have guided trainees in discovering their unique writing styles and familiarizing themselves with their linguistic and intellectual resources.”
“It is unfortunate that some forums charge high fees for similar workshops, making them accessible to only a limited group while depriving many others of the opportunity to participate and benefit,” trainee Ali Al-Hilli said.
