Authorities shut down clinic and three labs in Soran for unlicensed medication
SORAN — Authorities in Soran, Erbil, closed a clinic and three medical laboratories on Wednesday for selling unlicensed medications and operating without proper permits, a health official announced.
Dr. Hemin Shkak, head of the Inspection and Investigation Committee at the Soran Health Directorate, told 964media that a joint team conducted inspections across the district. The operation involved local authorities, the Kurdistan Medical Control Agency, the Pharmacists’ Syndicate, security forces, and a public prosecutor.
“As a result of these inspections, authorities seized unlicensed and smuggled medications as well as expired test kits. One clinic and three medical labs were closed,” Shkak said.
Officials explained that the clinic was shut down for distributing unauthorized medications, while one of the laboratories was closed due to the use of expired testing materials. The remaining two labs were closed because the licensed owner was absent, and unauthorized individuals were operating them.
Shkak added that security forces in Soran are intensifying efforts to identify and apprehend those responsible for smuggling the seized medications.
