Two separate vehicle fires in Najaf result in one fatality
NAJAF — Two vehicles caught fire in separate incidents on Tuesday, with one incident claiming the life of a woman in her fifties who was trapped inside the vehicle, according to witnesses spoke to 964media.
The first incident occurred near the northern entrance to the Najaf’s old city. Witnesses reported that a 14-passenger vehicle carrying individuals from Babil Governorate caught fire when the engine ignited.
Most passengers managed to escape, but a woman in her fifties was trapped inside and died before firefighters could arrive.
The second incident involved a Kia Cerato that collided with a concrete barrier near the Thawrat Al-Ishreen overpasses leading to the old city.
The vehicle, which had been converted to run on gas, caught fire on impact. Civil defense teams quickly extinguished the flames, as their station was close to the scene.
No additional injuries were reported in either incident.
