'Excessive speed'

Truck collision claims two lives on Nasiriyah Airport Road

DHI QAR — Two people died Saturday in a collision involving two trucks on the road leading to Nasiriyah International Airport in Dhi Qar Governorate.

A local security source told 964media that the victims were traveling in a Scania truck when a trailer detached from another truck and struck their vehicle, causing their immediate deaths.

The source cited “excessive speed and the narrow road” as factors contributing to the fatal crash.

The victims’ bodies were transferred to the forensic medicine department, and police have launched an investigation into the incident.

Traffic fatalities continue to be a significant concern in Iraq. On Friday, two separate traffic accidents resulted in four deaths and left several others injured in Basra’s Haritha district and Najaf’s Mishkhab district.
