Three suspects arrested

Erbil security seizes 11.4 kilograms of drugs in operation

ERBIL — The Erbil Security Directorate announced Monday the seizure of 11.4 kilograms of narcotics and the arrest of three individuals accused of drug trafficking.

In a statement, the directorate detailed that the operation targeted a drug trafficking network after extensive surveillance and investigations.

“After monitoring and investigating a drug trafficking network, and under the directive of the Erbil Investigative Judiciary, we arrested three suspects identified by their initials: H.D.A., M.M.Sh., and K.M.F.,” the statement said.

The operation resulted in the confiscation of 11.4 kilograms of drugs, including crystal meth, heroin, and opium. Authorities also seized three unlicensed firearms and tools used for measuring and transporting narcotics.

The statement expressed gratitude to local residents for their assistance, noting that “valuable information” provided by the community contributed to the operation’s success.

A video released by the Erbil Security Directorate showed that one of the suspects was a woman, while the other two were men.

In late October, Erbil authorities conducted a large-scale anti-drug operation across the Erbil and Duhok governorates. That effort led to the seizure of over 16 kilograms of illegal substances and the arrest of 43 individuals, including major dealers and traffickers.
