Fire engulfs Erbil café in early morning blaze

ERBIL — A fire broke out early Sunday morning at a café in Erbil, causing material damage but no casualties, according to city civil defense authorities.

Shakhawan Saeed, spokesperson for Erbil Civil Defense, told 964media, “At 4:16 a.m. on Sunday, a fire broke out in a café located in Aqua Park area, opposite Shanadar Park.”

He added, “After being notified, four teams immediately arrived at the scene and managed to control the fire within a short period.”

Saeed confirmed that no injuries or fatalities resulted from the incident, with only material damage reported.

Regarding the cause of the fire, Saeed stated, “The cause of the fire is still unknown, and an investigation has been launched.”

This marks the second fire incident in Erbil since the turn of the year. On Thursday, Jan. 2, a fire broke out in several car repair shops on 100 Meter Road, completely destroying one of the shops.
