Two children killed, one injured in Sulaymaniyah house fire on New Year’s Day
SULAYMANIYAH— In the first reported fire of the new year in Sulaymaniyah, two children lost their lives, and one was injured when a house caught fire early Wednesday morning.
Saman Nader, Director of the Sulaymaniyah Emergency Response Center, told 964media, “At around 3 a.m. on Wednesday, a house in the Chwar Chra neighborhood of Sulaymaniyah caught fire and was severely damaged.”
He added, “In the incident, two girls aged 10 and six tragically lost their lives, while a two-year-old boy sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment in the hospital.”
Nader mentioned that the cause of the fire remains unknown, and an investigation is underway. At the time of the fire, the parents of the children were at home but are safe.
Last night, an electrical short circuit sparked a fire that heavily damaged a home in Tuz Khurmatu’s Komari neighborhood, Salah Al-Din province, causing an estimated $20,000 in financial losses.
