Man arrested for allegedly fatally stabbing brother over ‘heated family dispute’

BAGHDAD — Iraqi authorities announced the arrest of a man alleged to have fatally stabbed his brother with a knife in Baghdad’s Kisra area following a family dispute.

The arrest took place in Adhamiya after an ambush.

In a statement, the Ministry of Interior said: “A specialized task force was immediately formed after reports emerged of a fatal stabbing incident in the Kisra area.”

Police units from the Adhamiya Police Department arrived at the crime scene, launching an investigation.

The interior ministry claims investigation revealed that the suspect had killed his brother with a knife following a heated family dispute before fleeing the scene.

The suspect has been placed in detention.
