Security forces arrest suspect for pro-ISIS graffiti in Baghdad school
BAGHDAD — Iraqi authorities announced on Monday the arrest of an individual accused of writing pro-ISIS slogans inside a school in the Zafaraniya district of Baghdad, following swift action by security forces.
In a statement, the Baghdad Operations Command confirmed that reports of the incident had circulated, stating: “Some media outlets and social media reported that slogans glorifying ISIS terrorist gangs were written inside a school in Zafaraniya.”
The statement added that a joint task force was formed, consisting of members from the 1st Federal Police Division in cooperation with intelligence agencies. The suspect was arrested in a short period of time following the launch of an investigation.
No further details about the suspect or their motives were disclosed.
Last week, Iraqi security forces in Anbar governorate arrested two individuals accused of writing pro-ISIS slogans on the walls of Al-Khairat Kitchen in Fallujah, according to an official source from the Anbar Police Department.
The source stated that the security forces “arrested two terrorists who wrote slogans glorifying ISIS on the walls of Al-Khairat Kitchen in Fallujah. One of the suspects was born in 2003, and the other in 2009. They will face justice in accordance with the law.”
