Two arrested for pro-ISIS graffiti in Fallujah

ANBAR — Security forces in Anbar governorate arrested two individuals who wrote slogans glorifying Islamic State terror group on the walls of Al-Khairat Kitchen in Fallujah, according to a police source on Wednesday. The suspects were born in 2003 and 2009.

“Anbar Police arrested two terrorists who wrote slogans glorifying the ISIS terrorist organization on the walls of Al-Khairat Kitchen in Fallujah. The offenders, one born in 2003 and the other in 2009, will face justice in accordance with the law,” the source said in a statement.

The Islamic State is known for committing widespread violence, human rights violations, and acts of genocide in Iraq and Syria. It emerged in 2014, seizing large areas of Iraq, including Mosul, Tikrit, and Fallujah.

Under the leadership of Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi, ISIS proclaimed a self-declared “caliphate,” enforcing a harsh interpretation of Islamic law and targeting ethnic and religious minorities. Although the group was militarily defeated in Iraq by 2017 through the combined efforts of Iraqi forces, Kurdish Peshmerga, and a U.S.-led coalition, ISIS remnants persist as an insurgent force, conducting periodic attacks and maintaining a foothold in remote regions.
