Crash near Erbil claims four lives from one family

ERBIL – A crash near the Dibaga subdistrict, west of Erbil, on Wednesday evening, resulting in the deaths of four family members and injuries to three others. The collision involved a pickup truck and a gas truck.

Bayar Hassan Najjar, the head of the Dibaga subdistrict, told 964media that the accident took place in the village of Chaltuk, within Dibaga’s jurisdiction. “Four members of one family lost their lives, and three other individuals were injured. Traffic and police teams arrived at the scene immediately,” Najjar said.

The deceased include a young man, his mother, his wife, and his sister. The driver of the gas truck reportedly surrendered to the Dibaga police and is currently in custody.

Dibaga lies approximately 35 kilometers southwest of Erbil and about 42 kilometers east of the town of Makhmour.

The investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
