Basmaya’s Civil Defense Center receives modern firetrucks

BAGHDAD, October 3 — The Civil Defense Center in Basmaya Residential Complex has received a number of modern fire trucks and advanced civil defense equipment from the General Directorate.

Officials at the center say their teams “have not failed in any mission.”

Raed Hawkan, the center’s director, told 964 the equipment was a welcomed addition to the department. “The new fire trucks we received are fully-equipped, and we are one of the centers that have not failed or faltered in any mission assigned to us.”

Abbas Yasser, a firefighter at the center, said: “The center is one of the newest in terms of construction, decor, and equipment. We have the ability to control any fire or accident that occurs in the complex, and our relationship with the residents is very good.”

Local resident Wael Hamza told 964: “Thank God, there hasn’t been any fire accident in Basmaya for months, and the credit goes to the awareness and guidance provided by the Civil Defense Center. We often see them rushing to control any incident, whether in Basmaya or nearby areas.”
