Two killed, six injured in crash on Kalar-Khanaqin Road

SULAYMANIYAH — Two people were killed, and six others were injured in a traffic incident on the Kalar-Khanaqin road near the village of Gakul, authorities confirmed Saturday.

Saman Ali, spokesperson for the Garmian Traffic Directorate, told 964media, “A traffic collision occurred a short while ago on the Kalar-Khanaqin road involving two vehicles: a Mazda 626 GD and a Toyota Corolla.”

According to preliminary reports, the incident claimed the life of two people while injuring six others, Ali added.

Dr. Rizgar Latif, director of Shahid Hajar Hospital in Kalar, said six of the injured were brought to the hospital and are receiving medical attention. “We have been informed about another injured individual who is being transported separately. The hospital staff is on high alert,” Latif told 964media.

“The six injured individuals admitted to the hospital are in critical condition, and efforts are underway to provide them with the necessary treatment,” he added.
