Iraqi PM Al-Sudani discusses Syria situation with Jordan’s King Abdullah
BAGHDAD — Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani and Jordan’s King Abdullah II discussed regional developments, including the situation in Syria and the conflict in Gaza, during a phone call on Sunday, according to a statement from Al-Sudani’s media office. The leaders addressed the need for “coordinated efforts” to enhance regional stability.
Amid the ongoing conflict in Syria, following the capture of Aleppo and other areas by militants led by Islamist group Hayat Tahrir Al-Sham, PM Al-Sudani spoke via a phone call with Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad on Saturday. During the conversation, Al-Sudani expressed Iraq’s support for Syria, saying,” Syria’s security and stability are closely linked to Iraq’s national security and play a crucial role in regional security and efforts to establish stability in the Middle East,” as quoted by his media office.

Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani held a phone call today, Sunday, with His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The two leaders discussed the latest developments in the region, particularly the events in Syria and the ongoing Zionist aggression against the people of Gaza.
Prime Minister Al-Sudani emphasized the necessity of coordinating efforts and reaffirmed Iraq’s commitment to supporting joint Arab and international initiatives to confront challenges. He highlighted that security and stability in Syria are of critical importance not only to Iraq but to all countries in the region. Additionally, he stressed the need for action to halt the Zionist aggression and the ongoing acts of genocide against the resilient Palestinian people.
