Basra oncology hospital arranges special out for children with cancer to mark World Children’s Day

BASRA — In celebration of World Children’s Day, Al-Thaqalayn Oncology Hospital in Basra organized a special outing on Monday for children battling cancer, aiming to uplift their spirits and alleviate the stress of treatment.

The event featured a variety of activities, including drawing, clay modeling, and making kites, with the participation of doctors and specialists.

The hospital’s media coordinator, Montadhar Issam, told 964media, “We organized this recreational trip for children with cancer to improve their psychological well-being and reduce the pressure of treatment.”

Issam explained that the activities included artistic and entertaining workshops such as painting, clay work, kite-making, and music. He highlighted the presence of consultant doctors, emphasizing that the medical staff’s role extends beyond treatment to supporting the children in recreational activities as well.

The event was supported by the Grand Millennium Hotel, which hosted the children and provided its services, and by the local Art Space center, which facilitated the artistic and recreational activities.

World Children’s Day, celebrated annually on Nov. 20, is a global initiative dedicated to promoting and improving children’s welfare worldwide. It was first established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1954 as Universal Children’s Day.
