Iraq’s Chief Justice discusses cooperation with Kuwaiti Ambassador

BAGHDAD, September 19 — Iraq’s Chief Justice of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Faieq Zidan, called on Tuesday for the implementation of United Nations Security Council resolutions regarding agreements and treaties between Baghdad and Kuwait City. His comments came during a meeting with Kuwaiti Ambassador Tareq Al-Faraj in Baghdad.

A statement from the judiciary’s press office said:

Mr. Judge Faieq Zidan, Chief Justice of the Supreme Judicial Council, received today, Tuesday, September 19, 2023, Mr. Tareq Al-Faraj, the Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to Iraq, to discuss cooperation between the two sisterly countries in the judicial field. The Chief Justice affirmed during the meeting Iraq’s respect for the State of Kuwait, past, present, and future, as well as Kuwait’s independence throughout various historical stages. He also emphasized the depth of the relationship between the two brotherly peoples and Iraq’s appreciation for Kuwait’s honorable positions in assisting Iraq in getting rid of the dictatorial regime. Furthermore, the Chief Justice emphasized the importance of respecting and implementing the agreements and treaties concluded between Iraq and Kuwait in accordance with constitutional and legal contexts and respecting the implementation of relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.
