KRG PM calls for investigation into drone attack on airport near Sulaymaniyah

SULAYMANIYAH, September 19 — Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Masrour Barzani called on Tuesday for a thorough and urgent investigation into a deadly drone attack on an airport located near the city of Sulaymaniyah.

Barzani emphasized that targeting the airport, located in Arbat district, constituted a violation of Iraq’s and the Kurdistan region’s sovereignty.

In a statement from the Kurdistan Region Presidency, the Prime Minister expressed sorrow over the incident and called on all relevant authorities to conduct a precise investigation to reveal the facts as quickly as possible.

The statement further conveyed condemnation of any violation that infringes upon the sovereignty of the Kurdistan region and Iraq. It emphasized the rejection of all unlawful acts that threaten the security and stability of the Kurdistan region.
