Fourth bridge connects areas on Mosul's left and right banks

Last bridge destroyed in ISIS war reopens in Mosul

MOSUL, September 18 —  The last bridge destroyed in Mosul during the war against ISIS reopened on Monday.

The fourth bridge, considered one of the city’s most vital bridges, connects the neighborhoods of Jousaq, Dindan, and Al-Tayaran on the right side of Mosul to the Al-Dubbat district and areas on the left side.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Director-General of Roads and Bridges Department at the Ministry of Construction and Housing, Engineer Hussein Jasim; the Director of Roads and Bridges in Nineveh, Radwan Al-Shuhani; the Mayor of Mosul, Saleh Al-Jubouri; the Director of Traffic, Brigadier Sami Abdul Khalef; and several other figures and citizens.

Al-Shuhani stated: “Today is a great joy in Mosul after overcoming the crisis of the five destroyed bridges due to the war against ISIS, and currently, all of them are back in operation.”

“The final bridge was executed by the Turkish company Al-Kaz in cooperation with Iraqi engineers from the Roads and Bridges Department in Nineveh. Despite the bridge’s slant and displacement due to bombardment, the work was executed excellently,” he said.

“Currently, the construction of the sixth bridge in Mosul is underway. We have also sent requests to Baghdad to prepare studies and reports to obtain approval for the plans to construct the seventh Mosul bridge,” Al-Shuhani added.
