Iran rejects extension of deadline for Kurdish opposition to disarm in Kurdistan Region

BAGHDAD, September 17 — Iran’s Defense Minister, Major General Mohammad Reza Ashtiani, stated on Sunday that Tehran refuses to extend its deadline for the disarmament of opposition forces in the Kurdistan Region, emphasizing that they will “act in accordance with their agreement with the Iraqi government.”

The Iranian news agency Tasnim quoted Major General Ashtiani as saying, “We will evaluate the situation at the last minute,” indicating actions that will be taken at the final moments of the deadline.

Ashtiani further clarified, “We have an agreement with the Iraqi government, and we have no extension for the deadline, which will expire on September 19.”
