Iraqi government orders temporary internet shutdown

BAGHDAD, September 17 — The spokesperson for the Ministry of Communications, Omar Abdul Razzaq, announced on Sunday that the Cabinet has ordered an internet service outage from 4 AM to 7 AM starting today until September 28, 2023. This decision aims to prevent the leakage of questions for the second round of exams.

Statement from the Ministry received by Network 964:

“The Cabinet has directed the shutdown of internet service from 4 AM to 7 AM, starting from September 17, 2023, until September 28, 2023, based on the request of the Ministry of Education. In this regard, we hope that the Ministry of Education will find alternative solutions to the issue of exam questions, as the Ministry of Communications does not support internet service shutdown.”
