Senior Peshmerga officer’s death ruled suicide
ERBIL – The Erbil Police Directorate has concluded its investigation into the death of Muhsin Rashid, a senior officer of the Ministry of Peshmerga, ruling it a suicide.
Rashid’s body was found in his vehicle with gunshot wounds. He was married to Vian Sabri, leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party’s faction in the Iraqi Parliament.
In a statement released Friday, Erbil Police detailed that forensic teams and surveillance units responded to the incident around 4:30 p.m.
“Initial investigations and forensic examination determined that the deceased, identified as Muhsin Mohammed Rashid, took his own life using a Kalashnikov rifle while alone in his private vehicle,” the statement read.
