Inspections sees four restaurants closed in Salah Al-Din’s Tuz Khurmatu district
TUZ KHURMATU — A special committee for health inspection from Salah Al-Din governorate, in coordination with the Tuz Khurmatu Health Department, has launched a campaign targeting restaurants and eateries in the district on Tuesday. The operation aims to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and is ongoing.
Mohammed Akbar Bayani, head of the Khurmatu Health Department, told 964media that the committee responded to their request to address health concerns in the area. “During the first round of inspections, four restaurants were shut down for failing to meet health standards, and more than 20 others were issued warnings. Some businesses faced penalties, and spoiled food items were confiscated,” Bayani said.
He added that the committee, in collaboration with the district health department, will continue to monitor restaurants and eateries to ensure they comply with health regulations. Violators are fined between 250,000 and 500,000 IQD ($166 to $332), with establishments facing closure for repeated offenses.
This marks the first visit by Salah Al-Din’s health inspection teams to Tuz Khurmatu. The district’s eateries are critical given their location along the Kirkuk–Baghdad road, a route frequented daily by thousands of travelers.
