Traffic incident involving four cars in Kirkuk injures nine

KIRKUK — Nine people were injured Tuesday in a traffic accident involving four cars on the main road between Kirkuk and Baghdad, in Kirkuk’s Taza sub-district. The injured were taken to Kirkuk Public Hospital for treatment.

The accident occurred at noon and involved a Chevrolet Aveo, a pickup truck, a Kia, and a Toyota Maxima, according to Ahmed Majid, a traffic police officer in Taza.

“The accident involved four cars, resulting in nine people being injured,” Majid told 964media.

A city traffic official reported to 964media that an improper maneuver by the pickup truck driver amid ongoing congestion caused the accident. The collision resulted in significant material damage to the vehicles.

The road, which connects the Kurdistan region and Kirkuk with Baghdad, is heavily trafficked and prone to frequent accidents.
