Lightning strike kills Bedouin 36-year-old woman in Dhi Qar

DHI QAR — A 36-year-old Bedouin woman died today after being struck by lightning as she left her tent in the southern desert region of Tel Al-Lahm, Dhi Qar.

An official source told 964media that the lightning strike occurred as the woman exited her tent, leading to her immediate death.

The body has been transferred to the forensic department, and authorities have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

This year, lightning has caused significant casualties and damage in Iraq. In the first seven days of May alone, lightning strikes killed five people and injured three others.

Most recently, a 14-year-old shepherd from Qori Chai village near Kifri in Garmiyan died Monday morning after being struck by lightning while tending his flock.
