Salah Al-Din nursery encourages planting by offering free seedlings, prizes
SALAH AL-DIN — Muhannad Muslim’s nursery in the Balad district of Salah Al-Din is boosting local interest in gardening by offering free seedlings with purchases and hosting prize raffles.
Customers spending at least 10,000 dinars ($8) at the nursery receive free seedlings, while those spending 25,000 dinars ($19) are entered into a raffle. Previous prizes have included a plasma TV during Eid Al-Fitr and an upcoming raffle for Eid al-Adha features an electric bike as the grand prize.
“The initiative to offer prizes and gifts aims to encourage community members to engage in planting at home and in public spaces,” Muslim told 964media. “The response has been very positive, with many customers purchasing a variety of plants for their new homes and farms.”
The nursery boasts a diverse selection of over 300 plant types, including local and imported varieties, shade plants, flowering plants, and evergreens, all offered at competitive prices. This variety caters to all preferences and is intended to enhance mood and improve the local climate.
Balad, known for its diverse agricultural output, especially grapes, benefits from the nursery’s wide range of fruit seedlings, which are popular among local orchard and farm owners. The nursery also focuses on providing shade seedlings for public gardens to help moderate the climate as temperatures rise.
Customer Hussein Fouad shared his experience, saying, “Yesterday, I purchased several plants for my home garden and got my friends to visit Sayyid Muhannad’s nursery today to buy plants and enter the electric bike raffle.”
Fouad praised the initiative, noting, “It’s excellent for encouraging people to engage in planting. We support any idea that promotes agriculture, industry, and local production.”
