Local and foreign investors wanted for development

KRG identifies 70 strategic tourism projects for investment

ERBIL, September 7 — The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has prepared 70 strategic tourism projects in the region and is awaiting implementation and development by investors.

Ibrahim Abdulmajid, the tourism board’s spokesman, told 964 that the projects have been designed according to assessments of specific needs.

“The construction of hotels, motels, tourist accommodations, winter tourism projects, zoos, and tourist communities are among the 70 projects,” he said.

Abdulmajid explained that the investment law contains facilities and important conditions for all sectors, including tourism. The 70 projects have been prepared based on the legislation.

He further stated that the board has identified a lack of tourist accommodation in Halabja, Zakho, Akre, Soran, and Raparin districts.

According to the spokesman, these projects are now ready for local or foreign investors to develop. He said, “This will certainly create many job opportunities, revive the tourism sector, increase the number of tourists, and increase individual and government revenue.”
