Runs for a week

Book fair opens in Kalar

KALAR — A book fair opened in Sulaymaniyah’s Kalar on Monday, set to run for a week, featuring more than 1,500 book titles.

The fair is being held at the Kalar Public Library, offering a 30% discount on Kurdish books and a 40% discount on Arabic books.

Nawzad Gharib, the event supervisor, told 964media, “Various are participating in the fair. There are over 1,500 different titles available.”

Gharib added that the books at the fair are in Kurdish and Arabic, covering a wide range of fields including religious studies, science, history, philosophy, and several other areas. There are also children’s books available in English.

The fair will run daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. for a week.

Explaining the reason behind the higher discount for Arabic books, Gharib mentioned, “The readership for Arabic books among our audience is smaller compared to Kurdish books, so we increased the discount to encourage more people to purchase and read Arabic books.”
