Ramadan regulations

Ban on public eating and closure of alcohol shops

BAGHDAD – The Ministry of Interior has announced a series of measures in preparation for Ramadan, including the prohibition of public eating during daylight hours and the closure of all alcohol-selling establishments.

Miqdad Al-Moussawi, spokesperson for the Ministry, emphasized that legal repercussions await those who contravene these regulations. Al-Moussawi stated in an announcement carried by 964media, “There are designated places for those not fasting, with the condition that there are no public displays of eating. Otherwise, legal measures will be taken against those who publicly break their fast.”

The Ministry has also instituted surveillance measures through an operations room established within the General Directorate for Organized Crime.

This collaborative effort, comprising representatives from the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Trade, and the Ministry of Agriculture, aims to monitor all violations related to Ramadan. Authorities warn that stringent legal actions will be taken against offenders, including those engaged in price gouging of food items, who will be referred to the judiciary for prosecution.
