U.S. ambassador highlights women’s growing role in Iraqi decision-making

BAGHDAD, August 26 — U.S. Ambassador Alina Romanowski stated in a tweet on Saturday that her country supports the increasing presence of women in Iraq in decision-making. She noted that Iraqi women hold three ministerial positions and a third of the parliament.

On #WomensEqualityDay, we celebrate women making a difference around the world. In Iraq women now lead three ministries and make up more than 1/3 of all parliamentarians. We support increased access for women’s voices in the decision-making process.
