Iraqi president discusses counterterror cooperation with Syrian ambassador
BAGHDAD, August 24 — Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid held a meeting with Syrian Ambassador Sattam al-Dandah on Thursday, focusing on mutual cooperation in countering terrorism to enhance security and stability in the region.
A statement from the Presidency’s press office said:
His Excellency President Dr. Abdul Latif Rashid received today, Thursday, August 24, 2023, at the Baghdad Palace, the Ambassador of the Syrian Arab Republic to Iraq, Mr. Sattam Judan al-Dandah.
At the beginning of the meeting, Ambassador al-Dandah conveyed greetings from Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to the Iraqi President, while His Excellency the President conveyed his greetings to President al-Assad and his wishes for the fraternal Syrian people to have continued stability, security, and prosperity.
President Rashid emphasized the importance of coordination and cooperation in the field of counterterrorism and issues of mutual interest, aiming to serve the interests of both countries and peoples, and to enhance security and stability in the region.
The Syrian Ambassador reaffirmed his country’s commitment to expanding constructive bilateral cooperation with Iraq, aiming to achieve the aspirations of both fraternal peoples in stability, progress, and prosperity.
