Iraq invites Malaysian companies for investment discussions

BAGHDAD, August 24 — Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein affirmed on Thursday that Iraq has extended an invitation to Malaysian companies to invest in various sectors, highlighting the importance of cooperation in airport management.

During a joint press conference held in Baghdad with Malaysian Foreign Minister Zambry Abdul Kadir, who arrived in Iraq on Wednesday for an official visit, Hussein stated: “Investment in Iraq is significant for Malaysia, which is why we have extended invitations to Malaysian companies in various fields. PETRONAS, the Malaysian company, had a successful experience, and we hope to expand it by inviting other companies, not only in the oil sector, but also in other domains.”

“Malaysia has substantial experience in airport management, given its operation of several international airports. We hope to exchange perspectives in this field,” he added. “We discussed how to leverage economic relations and procedures to access the Malaysian market for Iraqi oil.”

“We also explored cooperation in religious tourism and facilitating entry for Malaysian citizens to visit sacred sites in Iraq,” Hussein said.
