Iraqi pilgrims in Saudi Arabia

Transport ministry announces additional flights for pilgrims

BAGHDAD – The Ministry of Transport announced the launch of 17 extra flights starting tomorrow to help the large number of Umrah pilgrims returning from Saudi Arabia, following requests from many who were left waiting.

In a statement, the ministry outlined how Transport Minister Razzaq Muhaibis Al-Saadawi instructed Iraqi Airways to boost the number of flights by the national airline. The decision is intended to meet the increased need for the return of Iraqi Umrah pilgrims from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The ministry’s media office reported that Al-Saadawi directed Iraqi Airways to accommodate the surge in demand for pilgrim returns on the national carrier from Saudi Arabia to Iraq. In turn, Iraqi Airways General Manager Engineer Manaf Abdul Munem ordered the relevant departments to schedule seven more flights daily.

From March 1, the airline will increase its operations from Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Medina to all airports in Iraq, totaling 17 daily flights, to ensure a smooth and comfortable journey back for the pilgrims.
