Basra university petroleum engineers society hosts charity bazaar
BASRA – The University of Basra’s chapter of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) organized a charity bazaar on Wednesday within the precincts of the Karmah Ali college complex, located in the northern part of the governorate. The event’s proceeds are designated for the benefit of the Lady Nargis Orphanage.
Ali Muslim, the chapter’s president, told 964media, “The Society of Petroleum Engineers represents a voluntary entity comprised of professionals in the petroleum sector. It is headquartered in the United States and maintains branches in various countries, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Iraq.
The SPE is involved in providing training, lectures, and seminars related to the petroleum industry. It also organizes leisure activities for students, aiming to mitigate academic stress, exemplified by the current bazaar.
Muslim elaborated, “The objective of the bazaar is twofold: to foster small-scale projects and to serve a philanthropic purpose, with its earnings directed towards supporting orphan welfare.”
Zahra Mohammed, a student attendee, commented, “The bazaar is delightful and engaging, effectively assisting in the diminution of academic stress. My colleagues and I thoroughly enjoyed the vernal ambiance, featuring a plethora of offerings from edibles and presents to flora, melodies, and musical performances.”
