Intelligence agency makes arrests over ‘stolen artworks’

SALAH AL-DIN — Iraqi intelligence forces raided two residences in Salah Al-Din governorate on Wednesday, arresting suspects found in possession of stolen artwork, according to a statement from the agency.

Specialized units targeting organized crime received intelligence about individuals holding antique paintings, prompting the formation of a team to investigate.

“After obtaining necessary legal approvals, raids were conducted, leading to the arrest of the suspects and the seizure of the antique pieces,” the statement read.

The suspects were reportedly referred to judicial authorities for prosecution.

The specific nature of the recovered artworks and the number of individuals arrested were not disclosed in the statement.
