Fire breaks out in second hand ‘Langa’ market in central Erbil

ERBIL – A fire has broken out in the second hand, known locally as “Langa”  market in the heart of Erbil, with firefighting teams actively working to bring the situation under control as of the latest reports, according to a 964media correspondent. The incident specifically affected shops facing “40 Meter Street.”

Firefighters are currently on the scene, undertaking measures to demolish a wall behind the first row of shops near the traffic signal on 40 Meter Street to gain access and effectively combat the blaze. Efforts are ongoing to contain the fire.

Langa Market is a popular destination for local shoppers looking for second hand good and outlet products of European brands. It is located in a central location in Erbil city. Previously the market caught fire and was restored. There were some efforts by the local authorities to move the market to another location but the shop owners refused the suggestion.
