Langa market Erbil fire and efforts to control blaze underway

ERBIL – A major fire broke out approximately an hour ago at the “Langa” market in Erbil and has not yet been brought under control.

A 964media correspondent on the scene reports that civil defense teams, with a significant number of personnel and vehicles, are actively attempting to control the fire.

The cause of the fire remains unclear, but there is speculation that an electrical short circuit may be to blame.

Civil defense teams are demolishing several walls behind the shops near the 40 Meter Street to reach the source of the fire and attempt to control it. So far, three to four walls have been taken down to facilitate access to the heart of the blaze.

The 964media observation also notes that many citizens and shop owners are trying to save merchandise and valuables from the flames, with a considerable number of people on site.

Additionally, the 100 Meter Street opposite Al-Langa Market has been closed, and currently, no traffic is allowed through the area as efforts to manage the fire continue.
