Over 200 drunk drivers arrested in Duhok this year

DUHOK, August 22 — Duhok traffic authorities said more than 13,000 drivers across the governorate have received fines for traffic violations, including driving while under the influence of alcohol.

Drivers were subjected to various fines and, in certain cases, arrest.

According to data from the traffic directorate, 12,149 drivers received fines. Additionally, 1,019 drivers were stopped for driving without valid licenses, along with 227 drivers, who were apprehended for driving while under the influence of alcohol.

Lieutenant Shvan Ishan told 964 that non-compliance with traffic regulations and disregard for safety of oneself and others are the leading causes of traffic accidents.

He expressed the hope that drivers would adhere to regulations and collaborate with traffic authorities.
