12th session held in Erbil
Erbil court continues probe into dentist’s drowning
ERBIL — The twelfth court session in the case of Dr. Frmesk Farhad’s drowning was held at the Erbil Criminal Court, where her father suggested that the full truth behind the incident remains undisclosed.
Dr. Farhad, a dentist and founder of the “Art and Health for Humanity” project, died in a drowning incident on Sept. 7, 2021, at an Erbil swimming pool.
Ferhad Mala Hasen, her father, told 964media that the session proceeded without a final verdict from the court.
The medical forensic report indicated that Dr. Farhad had no health issues and was a capable swimmer, casting doubt on the circumstances of her drowning.
More than a year after her death, the case was moved to the Erbil Criminal Court for a more detailed investigation.
A representative from the Erbil Provincial Supervisory Committee, which monitors swimming pools, attended the session to address the judge’s inquiries. The judge extended the investigation by a week for additional information.
Suspected involvement of the swimming pool’s owner and coach are under scrutiny by the court, with the next session set for March 6, 2024, when a verdict is expected.
