U.S. ambassador highlights humanitarian aid to Iraq on World Humanitarian Day

BAGHDAD, August 19 — The United States’ ambassador to Baghdad said on Saturday that Washington is Iraq’s largest individual humanitarian donor, providing more than $3 billion in aid to the country in the last decade.

Ambassador Alina Romanowski tweeted the information in Arabic and English, marking World Humanitarian Day.

The U.S. is the largest single donor of humanitarian assistance in Iraq. We’ve provided $3.4+ billion in humanitarian aid since 2014, helping end displacement for nearly 5 million Iraqis; we continue to help the nearly 1.2 million still internally displaced. #WorldHumanitarianDay
