Iraqi MP Yousif Al-Kilaby calls for a special parliament session in response to latest US stike
BAGHDAD – In a letter to the acting speaker of Iraq’s parliament on Thursday, MP Yousif Al-Kilaby called for a special session regarding the killing of prominent Kataib Hezbollah figure Abu Baqir Al-Saadi in an American airstrike in Baghdad on Feb. 7.
The letter was signed by 103 fellow parliament members.

Subject: Extraordinary Session
After the American attack on our security forces, Popular Mobilization Forces, and civilian homes in Anbar governorate, preceded by the heinous attack in Baghdad, and yesterday’s ruthless assault in the heart of Baghdad targeting one of the heroic leaders of the Popular Mobilization Forces who played a significant role in the battles of liberation and victory against the terrorist enemy.
We, the undersigned members of parliament, request the convening of an emergency session to:
– Issue a parliamentary resolution reaffirming the government’s obligation to implement the resolution issued by the Council of Representatives on [Jan. 5, 2020], with a deadline by the end of June of this year.
– Hold the first reading of the draft law to expel all foreign forces from Iraq.
