Project targets 2 million residents
Amara water project nears completion in Maysan
MAYSAN — A large-scale infrastructure project slated to provide water to two million residents in Maysan governorate is 97% completed, according to a statement by the federal Ministry of Construction, Housing, and Municipalities on Tuesday.
The ministry’s statement on the Amara water project said:
The project is being carried out under the supervision of the water general directorate, marking it as one of the largest water-sector projects in Maysan as part of the ministry’s investment plan.
Currently, efforts are focused on completing critical tasks to partially commission the project, aiming to provide 70% coverage of the targeted areas initially. With a capacity of 16,000 cubic meters per hour, the project is designed to ensure the supply of potable water to over two million citizens, taking into account future population growth projections.
