Sulaymaniyah funds 240 housing units to people with disabilities

SULAYMANIYAH – Sulaymaniyah has launched a program to distribute 240 housing units designed to accommodate individuals with disabilities. These units are conveniently located along the main street in the Qulereysi area, with two of the towers already completed and ready for occupancy.

Saman Hussein, who leads the Handicapped Union of Kurdistan, shared with 964media that the process for eligible individuals to begin applying will start on Sunday and will be open until February 22. The union will be open for to assist people through the application process from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM daily.

Once applicants receive their forms, they have a week to review and meet the necessary requirements before submitting their completed forms back to the union. Hussein emphasized that a thorough review of all applications will be conducted to ensure that those who meet the set criteria will be selected from “through a transparent lottery process.”

To be eligible for a housing unit, applicants must not have received a housing unit previously, should not own any property such as a shop, house, or land, and must be at least 18 years old. Additionally, families with more than two eligible members and individuals who either have a disability or retirement income, or can provide a guarantor who is a salaried employee, are eligible to apply.
