Calls for protection of Iraqi sovereignty
Nouri Al-Maliki denounces US strike
BAGHDAD – Former prime minister and leader of the State of Law coalition, Nouri Al-Maliki, expressed strong condemnation on Sunday against the targeting and assassination of members of the Iraqi forces at their bases, stressing that the U.S. bombing sets a precedent for “law of the jungle” and that Iraqis will ‘not tolerate injustice’.
Statement on X platform:
The American assault on Iraq’s sovereignty, and the cold-blooded killing of its sons, has been repeated unprecedentedly, without any deterrent from the international community. While we condemn the targeting and assassination of some of our sons in the Iraqi forces at their fixed positions, we emphasize the right of the Iraqi government to take action on all levels to stop and condemn these attacks. This act establishes the law of the jungle and brings more unjustified killing and destruction, violating international laws, human rights principles, and the values of civilization falsely claimed?!
Iraqis do not accept injustice, and they cannot tolerate the disregard for the lives of their sons. A responsible national stance from everyone is necessary to protect the nation’s sovereignty and the lives of its people.
Mercy for the martyrs, healing for the wounded, and patience for their families and all Iraqis.
